There are some frustrations in the beginning that disappear when you level up a bit, but that doesn't stop them being annoying at the start. The game can be hard (this can be a good or a bad thing), especially starting out (if you do go with D2 I would recommend a skellymancer to start as it is a fun build that starts at level 1). I can go into more detail if this is something you are into. If you play single player, you can play different patches - there have been a couple of massive gameplay changes as patches progressed which adds even more variety. Because of this, you can replay the 7 base characters multiple times and have a different gameplay experience. Some of those builds are built around a specific item, whilst others are generic. There are literally hundreds of possible builds that are end game capable, so the variety is huge. I will caveat this by saying that I pretty much play single player only on both which is not the usual way of playingĭ2: D2 is a deep game, both in terms of lore and gameplay. Which game you prefer probably comes down to personal preferences more than anything else. I will try and list out some of the pros and cons of each. Thats one of the reasons there are so many arguments which are better. Both are good you should play both.Īs others have said - they are 2 very different games. So I guess I don't know what my point here is.

It's a very forgiving experience, you can't goof it up which is a pro for lots of people and a con for others.ĭ2 offers more variety, more character customization and development, choices have meaning. But its a fairly shallow experience, the game play loop is much more straightforward, in the endgame you'll basically just be running rifts and only rifts, in a fairly mindless way. I think it is worth it if you're open to the experience and will tolerate the trouble of getting it running and looking right, and then also open to a steeper learning curve, and spending some time.ĭ3 you'll be able to just hop right in. But right now, unless you're a diehard arpg fan and somehow haven't played d2 yet, I wouldn't pick up d2. I think that in the grand scheme of things d2 is a better game overall and also historically more significant. Especially since the ping never seem to go below 150ms.Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Threadĭifferent games both good. Playing with lag even in SP games is crazy. The BS with having to be connected to a server even in SP is. And I hate LOL, would have liked to play BLC with them. Usually they play shit like LOL while I play shit like Quake Live. It's very rare that me and them can agree on any game. Also it is a game that me and my mates have been able to play together and that has been very rewarding to me. It's got some things that I think work better than D2. But it's not worse than D2 across the board. Also for all that intertwining story with the skeleton king to even have time to happen.Īnyways. And if he would be he would have to be old since D1 and D2 was at least 20 years ago what with Leah having to have grown up and all in that time. He is indeed referred to by Cain as the same barbarian from D2. In the original gameplay demo where the barbarian rescues Cain in a completely different scenario to what ended up in the game. If I pay $60 for a non-mmo, a game that can be played solo, then I want to play the game at my pleasure, not blizzards.ĭiablo 3 has a lot going for it, but the lack of a single player mode is damning. Lot's of people, yes even in 2012 do find themselves without a reliable internet connection from time to time, if they have one to begin with. The main point is.who gives a shit if joe nobody makes a character editor to make a godlike toon for his single player enjoyment? No one does, because it doesn't affect anyone else. Honestly, aside from the weirdo open bnet pvpers, there was probably more legit play on open bnet than not. It had NO effect on closed ladder and non-ladder play.Īnd even then, closed bnet, with log-in and server-side characters was a hotbed of maphack, pindle bots, meph bots, duped sojs, wf's, gf's and ith items for years. Hacking items and characters was rampant with single player and open bnet.but no one cares because it was single player and open bnet. To play devils advocate, diablo 2 has single player, open bnet and closed bnet. Why not look at the bright side of it and think of how this will prevent duping and cheating much more effectively than Diablo 2, which had a ton of security issues.
